By doing this you can make sure that you are preserving the life of the battery. If you do not do this then you are going to have to buy a new one within a very short amount of time. So, this is one thing that you can do. Something else that you need to consider is that overcharging electric car batteries can actually damage it considerably, especially if you have a lithium ion car battery. So, you should only charge it when it actually needs it. Some people will charge it daily, which is going to cause damage.
