Minature Gardens Popping Up In Pot Holes Across London

March 21, 2012

Pot holes area problem across the UK with an estimated 2,000,000 so what can be done? Well there’s one London resident who’s taken matters into his own hands and is filling the local pot holes with miniature gardens.

The Daily Mail reports on the urban guerilla-gardener Steve Wheen who is working his way round the streets of London creating little plots of beauty where once a ugly pot hole could be found.

Steve has created all sorts of miniature gardens complete with miniature garden furniture. When Interviewed Steve said, “I try and choose public locations with plenty of walk-past traffic, so as many people see my gardens as possible before they get destroyed, stolen or run over.”

Steve continued saying, ‘In Australia I grew up in the garden and I’ve been living in London for the past eight years,’ he said. ‘I found out about guerrilla gardening when I moved here. I don’t have a garden myself so I’ve taken my gardening to the streets. A few years ago I tried it on a much tinier scale and it seems to have had a much bigger impact.’

Thanks to Steve’s efforts many people have enjoyed his beautiful miniature gardens, let’s hope others are encouraged to clean up our great city as well as their gardens.

Your Environment Will Affect The Way You Feel So Home Improvements Are Essential

February 5, 2012

Believe it or not, your home has a lot to do with how you feel. It is important to be happy with the way your home looks because you spend a good bit of time there. Knowing that the home suits your needs and ideals can make your living and working environment better. The ideas below will help you love your home even more.

Always be comfortable in your own home. Thought it is normal for your house to not be perfect, flaws can really cause displeasure. You can feel better just by making minor changes. You can replace your kitchen chairs and table or maybe buy a nice sofa.

Add on to your home. There are times when nothing will work because a home is simply not big enough. If you aren’t ready to move into a bigger house, adding on to your current house can give you the room you desire. Even if it’s only a small addition, it can help with clutter.

Make your home more pleasant and valuable by adding recreational features to your property. These can be expensive or cheap options. Not only will these increase the value of your property, but they will also increase your family’s enjoyment of the area, and your home, more.

Take a look at your lighting. Even just a small change in the type of fitting used can brighten up a previously dull and dark room. Sometimes just replacing the bulbs can make it a brighter place, and it is such an easy thing to do. Fixing your light fixtures can give your home a brighter, newer look.

Consider putting some time and effort into landscaping. Having a well-kept lawn will have your neighbors jealous of you. You will feel great when you smell your lawn’s fresh grass each morning. Scatter some plants around the place to improve the quality of the oxygen, and breathe deeply.

The outside of your home is as important as the inside, so consider giving it some attention. You can do this by fixing your roof or replacing old windows. Repainting your house can also make it more attractive. You will be eager to come home each day to a beautiful and exciting home.

Since you spend so much time in your home, keeping it beautiful keeps you happy while you are there. This means that in addition to making good financial sense, home improvements can serve to improve your mood and your general outlook on life.
